Erik Pomp - Leadership Team

Erik Pomp

Chief Executive Officer

Erik joined Terumo Aortic in 2014 as CFO. In 2019 Erik moved into the COO role and from April 2022, he has taken over as CEO of Terumo Aortic.

Through strategy deployment, Erik and the team have developed a rolling 10 Year strategy to support the double-digit growth of the business. The strategy brings together our Associates, Process and Systems in a new integrated way of working that paves the way for the future digital factory and a new way of working across the organization to improve patients’ outcomes. As a business we focus on continued growth through small incremental gains and applying growth mindset in everything we do.

Prior to Erik joining Terumo, he worked as Vice President for Honeywell in the Automation Control and Solutions division (ACS) with a turnover of $17Bn and an overall Honeywell turnover of $40Bn. During his time at Honeywell, he was responsible for the Honeywell system implementations (SAP), standardisation of various business processes and troubleshooting for relevant system integrations / acquisitions that had gone wrong. In his early days at Honeywell, Erik was responsible for creating the financial shared services model for ACS, including the co-source model with Genpact (former GE).

Prior to Honeywell Erik worked for ADC telecommunications, Dresser/Halliburton (oil industry) and Shell Chemicals.

Erik is married and has two children (Niko 22; Saskia 19). In terms of hobbies, he very much enjoys helping on their small holding (mini farm) which has many animals, including five horses.

Chief Operations Officer

John Canning received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from The College of New Jersey in Trenton, New Jersey. He entered the workforce in 1996 as a Manufacturing Engineer with Metrologic Instruments, a company producing point of sale bar code scanners.

In 1997, John relocated to South Florida and joined Althin Medical as a Research & Development Engineer developing extrusion equipment and processes to produce hollow fiber membranes for dialysis via thermally induced phase separation.

It wasn’t long before other companies took notice of his talent and in 1999, John was employed by Medtronic as the Manufacturing Operations Manager supporting the launch of the first endovascular stent grafts in the US market. He worked with Medtronic until the company closed its Florida operations in 2002.

Soon after, part of the Werfen Group Hospital Division, Bolton Medical, Inc. relocated to South Florida and hired John to aid in the creation of a team to enter into the stent graft market. He held progressive management positions in manufacturing, quality, and operations. In 2008, John accepted the position of Director of Research & Development with Bolton Medical, Inc. and began to expand the development of the product portfolio. He directed all the product development functions.

In 2018, he was promoted to Chief Technology Officer and currently serves as both Chief Technology and Chief Operations Officer.

Gordon Du Cane

Chief Financial Officer

Gordon joined Terumo Aortic in 2021 as Commercial Finance Director, taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer in January 2024 and is based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Since joining the business Gordon has sought to evolve the company’s finance function into one that seeks to partner with the wider business, whilst also ensuring that decisions throughout the company are driven by data. This is part of delivering on the wider 10 year strategy we have in place to support the double digit growth in our business and ensuring we operate at the level required of a Class III medical device company approaching $0.5bn of revenue.

Gordon has an MA in Economics from the University of Glasgow and is a Chartered Accountant having started his career at PwC, where he went on to specialise in Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Finance over a period of six years.

Prior to joining Terumo Aortic, Gordon worked in Corporate Development at the Head Office of Glasgow based FTSE100 minerals and mining company, the Weir Group. During his time at Weir, he was at the centre of the Group’s shift in strategy to be a pureplay minerals and mining company through M&A; managing the divestment of its Oil & Gas and Flow Control divisions alongside the acquisition of the AI mining technology business Motion Metrics, with cumulative transaction values in excess of $1bn.

Before his time at Weir, Gordon held roles with the then FTSE250 company, Aggreko, and the whisky business, Whyte & Mackay, across a range of corporate and financial positions.

Gordon is married with three children at home (Archie 10; Isobel 7; and Summer 4). He enjoys taking part in a variety of outdoor activities out on the West Coast of Scotland with his family, particularly on the Isle of Colonsay, where he and his wife have a home.

Catherine Kinnon

Chief of Staff

Catherine joined Terumo Aortic in 2017 as Head of Process Design / SAP, developing and executing the IT Strategy, with particular focus on SAP & Digital Transformation. She has over 25 years experience in Business Transformation deploying a variety of different systems including ERP, CRM, HRIS, QMS & MES / IoT.

Catherine started her career at Honeywell, a $35bn company, and spent 20 years there in various different IT roles with increasing responsibility, including IT Business Partner for Honeywell Scanning & Mobility, and IT Director for Honeywell Building Technologies, focusing on Digital Transformation.

Catherine leads the Transformation Management Office, supporting & accelerating the delivery of key strategic programmes and projects, using centralising project management resources and prioritising deployments to ensure robust on time, in budget and on target to benefits delivery.

Catherine has an MSc in Information Technology from the University of Glasgow and a BSc in Immunology & Pharmacology from the University of Strathclyde. In her spare time she enjoys fitness classes, walking her dog and reading.

Vincent Nelis

VP of R&D: Surgical/Hybrid

Vincent Nelis joined Terumo Aortic in 2007 a s a Product Development Engineer in R&D. He currently serves at the VP for R&D, Surgical and Hybrid based in Glasgow.

In his time at Terumo Aortic Vincent has been instrumental in the design, development and commercialisation of Fenestrated Anaconda, Thoraflex™ Hybrid and the development of our future Hybrid portfolio. Vincent has been involved in two Terumo Global Awards, a Queens Awards for Innovation and is a graduate of the Terumo Global Mirai-EL program. A named inventor on several patents Vincent is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and has a Masters in Product Design Engineering from Strathclyde University.

In his spare time Vincent enjoys being creative or taking part in physical activities such as running, which is a great combination for a father of 3 kids.

Tarik Paćuka

Chief Commercial Officer

Tarik Paćuka joined Terumo Aortic in 2010 as a Product Specialist working within the UK market. He currently serves as our Chief Commercial Officer and is based in the United Kingdom.

Tarik has 13+ years of experience in the Medical Device Industry. Prior to starting in Medical Devices, he worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry across the Legal and Sales & Marketing functions for Merck and Boehringer Ingelheim.

Tarik resides in Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. He was born in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina and holds two undergraduate degrees, first being in Law (London) and second in Diagnostic Sonography (Hatfield). Additionally, he holds Postgraduate Executive MBA (Open University).

He enjoys teaching martial arts and spending time with his family.

Robert Welsh

General Manager – Glasgow

Robert joined Terumo in 2016 as VP of Manufacturing; he has over 30 years of experience in the medical devices industry. A graduate of the University of Glasgow with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, he began his career with Motorola Semiconductors before transitioning into healthcare technology.

He has held senior roles across several Johnson & Johnson companies running manufacturing and R&D organisations. He also has experience in orthopaedics, osteobiologics and prosthetics manufacture. He has held a number of board positions in both the UK and overseas, and was a part of a team responsible for a successful IPO of a UK based medtech company.

As General Manager for Glasgow, he has been responsible for developing the Glasgow site with the introduction of a new state of the art sterilisation facility, cleanroom and space for further expansion as the business continues to grow.

Jason Whittle

Vice President of Quality

Jason joined Terumo Aortic in 2016 as Head of Quality Assurance. During his time at Terumo Aortic he has had roles of increasing responsibility, covering Quality & EHS, becoming VP of Quality in 2024.

In support of the CEO, Jason has developed the Quality Strategy for Terumo Aortic and has primary responsibility for maintaining and improving levels of quality and regulatory compliance. Key aspects of the strategy include simplifying quality systems, developing a quality culture, managing enterprise business risk along with supporting the digital roadmap.

Prior to Jason joining Terumo, he worked as Global Director of Quality Systems for Smiths Medical with responsibility for 15 different facilities across the world with sites across Europe, Canada, America, India and Australia. This role was a customer facing role with the scope of activities being service & repair, distribution and affiliate sites for a wide range of medical devices up to Class III.

Prior to Smiths Medical Jason worked for ConvaTec Ltd (medical devices), Leyland & Birmingham Ltd (polymer technology) and for the Manchester Metropolitan University. Jason holds a first class BSC honours degree in Applicable Mathematics & Manufacturing and a Master of Philosophy Degree (M.Phil) in Manufacturing Systems from this university.

Jason has two children (Jay 26; Chloe 23). In his spare time Jason enjoys to travel, go for long walks and spend time with family and friends.

Gillian Winning

Chief People Officer

Gillian Winning joined Terumo Aortic in 2011. She was promoted in 2019 to Global VP of HR and to Chief People Officer in 2024.

Gillian has over 25 years’ experience in HR and Training roles, working in various industry sectors, financial, telecommunications and manufacturing.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Gillian has a degree in Business Studies from the University of Ulster, postgraduate in Human Resources and has achieved Chartered member status of the Institute of Personnel Development.

In her spare time, Gillian enjoys spending time with family and friends.
