My name is Wayne Morgan and I was diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz, this is my story.
We met Wayne Morgan and his partner Amy, during an Information Day in Birmingham ran by The Marfan Trust UK. The event was called ‘Living with Marfan and Loeys-Dietz Syndromes’ and was primarily organised for people living with Marfan Syndrome or Loeys-Dietz syndrome to connect with each other, medical experts and hear talks from medical professionals. Wayne was diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome in April 2024 and as a result received a Gelweave Valsalva graft to treat an aortic aneurysm he was suffering with.
I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Terumo Aortic. Without my new graft I might not have got to see my 3 kids grow up, I lost parents young and one of my biggest fears in life is that my children have to endure the same.”

Fact file: Loeys-Dietz syndrome is a genetic condition of connective tissue which causes changes in the heart, blood vessels, bones, joints, skin, and internal organs. Marfan syndrome (MFS) and Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) are distinct but related genetic conditions affecting the body's connective tissue, with both causing aortic aneurysms but differing in genetic cause and specific physical features.
In the video, Wayne shares that he experienced years of feeling unwell before eventually being diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz last year. His pain and symptoms were originally misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia, but through continuous research and the help of patient organisations like The Marfan Trust, Wayne’s partner Amy discovered it was highly likely Wayne had MFS or LDS.
Wayne speaks openly about his experience of living with LDS, going through multiple operations and now living with a Gelweave Valsalva. He shares his gratitude for Terumo Aortic’s grafts and dedication to saving the lives of people like him.
We are extremely grateful to Wayne for sharing his experience with us. Speaking openly about your personal life and health journey on camera is a brave thing to do, but people like Wayne are often happy to share their stories as a way of showing gratitude towards the Associates at Terumo Aortic for playing a part in his recovery. We hope Wayne’s story reminds Associates that they are playing a vital role in contributing to society through healthcare every day.
